COMPETITION
The sport of judo has an active local competition schedule in
Southern California offering our competitive students many opportunities to
participate and compete against other contestants in the region. As an
official Olympic sport, judo has a National Governing Body, USA Judo which
oversees qualifying tournaments for National Teams. Our goal oriented
students can compete in officially sanctioned State and Regional Championships,
as well as the National Championships which are held annually. The top
judo athletes in the USA represent the United States in International
tournaments, including the PanAmerican Championships, World Championships, and
the Olympic Games.
Judo Youth have the same opportunities to compete locally, as
well as in Jr. State and Regional Championships and several Jr. National
events including Middle School, High School, Jr. Olympics, Jr. Nationals, and
the USA Jr. Open where they can compete against junior contestants from around
the world. The top youth athletes in the United States are also selected for
National Teams that represent the USA in Jr. Pan American, Jr. World, and in the
newly created Youth Olympic Games which will be held for the first time in
2010.
Whether our student is competing locally to have fun, or training
to reach their highest aspirations in the sport
of judo, our coaches are matside for their benefit,
offering encouragement, motivation and tactical
advice. Orange County Judo Training Center coaches
attend all events with their students, and in
the event that one of our coaches cannot attend
a National event, our network of internationally
reknown coaches is employed to assume the coaching
responsibilities for our student. From the first
time they step on the mat, to the day they compete
in the largest venues, our students enjoy our
100% commitment and dedication to their development
